Augusta is a medium sized city in the north eastern part of Georgia that is growing quickly. It is located near Fort Gordon Army Base. Augusta is also home of the Augusta National Golf Club where the annual Masters Golf Tournament is held. Downtown Augusta has a Historical District, and there are plenty of other Historical sites to see in and around Augusta.
There is a lot of construction, so if you plan to visit, be prepared to make a detour or two trying to get around. I-520 is undergoing very heavy construction, and if you plan to drive through Augusta, you should time it to avoid rush hour.
