Black Diamond Oyster Bar is a little Seafood Dive that has been around Corpus Christi, Texas since 1968.
I classify it as a Seafood Dive because the Restaurant is a bit dingy and in need of renovation. However,
the locals eat there, and I gave it a try and liked the food. The Restaurant has a main dining room that
wasn’t open when I dined there. This dining room has large fish tank in the center with mostly
Neon Tetras in it. The Bar is towards the other end, and it was that area that they were seating folks the
Tuesday night that I went there. I was seated along the front wall, and I felt like my chair was leaning.
Well it wasn’t the chair, it was the floor. It has a distinct slope to one end of the Restaurant that makes
it a bit uncomfortable to sit and eat there.
The service was fast and courteous. My server greeted me in a short time and gave me a menu and took my drink order. I ordered
the Crab Stuffed Mahi-Mahi. The entrees come with two sides too. I received my salad, 1 of my sides, in just a couple of minutes.
My entrée came out about 7 or 8 minutes later. The Mahi-Mahi was very tasty and the Crab complimented the dish nicely. Other
menu items include Crab Stuffed Shrimp, Crab Stuffed Flounder, various Oyster dishes, Shrimp, Steak, and Gumbos and Soups.
The Black Diamond Oyster Bar serves great food, but a little renovation, starting with leveling the floor, would go a long way to
bring this Restaurant to a classier Seafood Restaurant instead of a Seafood Dive. I still recommend it for the food and service.
