Breck's Place is a local Charleston area, Family Owned Restaurant.
They serve mostly Steaks and Hamburgers at very reasonable prices.
I ate there the other night and got a 21 oz T-Bone
Steak with a baked potato, a side vegetable, and a salad for $13.50.
This is an unbelievable deal. The T-Bone Steak was about an
inch and a half thick. Breck's Place has two locations - one
location on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston, and the other is
located in Summerville. We went to the Rivers Avenue location
with another couple, and we all enjoyed our meals. Breck's
also has other things on the menu like shrimp, club sandwiches, pork
chops, and spaghetti.
Breck's Place is a cozy little Mom & Pop Steak
House Restaurant that is hard to notice if you aren't looking for
it. It is located in a small shopping center near the Race
Trac gas station on Rivers Avenue. This location is the original Breck's Place.
I'm not sure when it opened, but it has been here since before I
moved here in May of 1996. The locals love this place, and it
is almost a local secret. The Steaks are Juicy, the portions
are large, and the prices are Cheap. You do not have to wait
long for your food either. Breck's Place is so much better
than those large corporation Restaurant chains like Long Horn Steak
House or Outback Steak House when it comes to portion size and check
size. They cannot come close to competing with Breck's Place.
One thing that is a bit annoying, but is probably one of the reasons
why the food is so Reasonably Priced, is that they do not accept credit cards.
However, there is an ATM machine available for your convenience, and they will accept
checks. They also have a quaint little bar in one
section that has a couple of TVs.
Overall, Breck's is a Down Home Mom & Pop
Restaurant. It doesn't have the glitz and glamour of the big
Steak House chains, but if you want a Juicy Steak, cooked and
served by a Family Operated Restaurant that you can only find in the
Charleston area, then check out Breck's Place. You will be
delightfully surprised, and you will not go away hungry - or broke.
