Colonial Downs Satellite Wagering Facility, also known as an Off Track Betting Center, is located on Indian River Road at the intersection of Sparrow Road in Chesapeake, Virginia. It is a very nice Facility where you can Wager on Thoroughbred Horse Racing or Harness Racing from all over the country. They do not have Greyhound or Jai Alai at Colonial Downs though. The Facility has a completely segregated smoking Section. The Facility is divided down the middle with glass that separates Smoking from Non-Smoking, but allows you to see the whole Facility and gives it an open feeling.

Colonial Downs operates several Satellite Wagering Facilities throughout Virginia. I have visited two of them. The Chesapeake Wagering Facility is much nicer than the one located about 12 miles down Military Highway in Portsmouth. The Portsmouth Facility is now closed. It is clean and open with large and small flat screen televisions all over the walls. There is no bad vantage point to watch any Race that is on. Colonial Downs Satellite Wagering Facility in Chesapeake also has a large number of private booths that are equipped with televisions that you can use to tune in any Race Track you wish to view. There are only a few tellers, but they also have a lot of Auto-Tote machines that you can use to make a bet.

Colonial Downs Satellite Wagering Facility also allows 10 cents Superfectas at selected Race Tracks. This is an excellent way to make a good amount of money with a little bit of money down. The total Bet will cost $2.40 to Box 4 Horses. Boxing 4 Horses is Betting that the Horses will come in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th. Because you are Boxing them, they can come in any order. To Box 4 Horses, you are making 24 separate straight Bets, which comes to $2.40. The pay off is 5% of the $2.00 winning amount. Superfectas can pay off big. The other night I saw a $2.00 Superfecta pay off over $54,000! The 10 cents Superfecta paid over $5400! Pay offs of this amount actually happen often, but it is very common to see a $2.00 Superfectas pay in the range of $65,000 to $125,000. Colonial Downs also has a snack bar called the Backstretch Grill that serves popcorn, pretzels, hot dogs, and burgers. Each section also has a full Bar that serves beer & mixed drinks too. They also have $1.50 Miller High Life bottles every night. Overall, the Chesapeake Colonial Downs Satellite Wagering Facility is a nice place to enjoy a few beers and Bet on Thoroughbred or Harness Horse Racing.
