When God said "Let there be Dive
Bars" the Corporation Bar & Grill has to be what he meant. The Corporation Bar
& Grill is located on South Peters Street in the Warehouse District of New
Orleans. This place is a very small Bar & Grill that has seen
its better days, but the people who work there are very friendly and
will smile and engage you in conversation easily. They are down to
earth folks, and have no pretense. The drink prices are much
lower than you would find in the French Quarter which is
approximately 10 blocks away. I paid $3.00 for a bottle of Heineken here
which is less than half the price in the French Quarter. They
serve food at the Corporation Bar & Grill too, but when I went
there, it was late at night and the Grill was closed. They
have a menu displayed on the wall that lists deli sandwiches and
burgers. I like Dive Bars, they tend to be down to earth, and
I like the Corporation Bar & Grill. It isn't much to look at,
but it is comfortable, cheap, and friendly.
If you are looking for a quiet place to drink a beer, be able to smoke
without overpaying for drinks, and rub elbows with the locals, then the
Corporation Bar & Grill is a good place to go. If you don't like
Dive Bars, then you probably want to avoid it.
