Good 'N Plenty Restaurant

The Good 'N Plenty Restaurant is a Authentic Pennsylvania Dutch Family Style Dining Restaurant located in Smoketown, Pennsylvania. Smoketown is one of the many Pennsylvania Dutch Amish Communities found in the Pennsylvania Dutch Amish Country near Lancaster, PA. If you plan to eat at Good 'N Plenty, be prepared to leave there miserably full.  The food is outstanding, and it comes out in big bowls and platters.

In case you do not know what Family Style Dining is, let me explain.  It is not Amish, but it is Down Home cooked food for sure.  Family Style Dining is done at a large table where two or three Families will be seated together.  The maître d' will seat you, ask where you are from, and then introduce the Families seated at the table.  You do not order from a menu, rather the menu is the same for everyone and may change daily.  The menu the day we visited the Good 'N Plenty Restaurant was Roast Beef, Fried Chicken, Smoked Sausage, whipped potatoes, buttered noodles, corn, peas, chow-chow, apple sauce, Homemade bread and whipped butter, shoo-fly pie, peach pie, apricot tapioca, Homemade ice cream, coconut cream pudding, and of course, ice tea, lemonade, milk, chocolate milk, and coffee.  The food is brought to your table and you take what you want and pass it around.  If you want more of something, all you have to do is ask the wait staff and they will bring out more.

All of the food at the Good 'N Plenty Restaurant is absolutely wonderful.  The Roast Beef was tender and could be cut with a fork, and the Fried Chicken had a good "scab" on it.  One interesting thing that I found was the fresh cottage cheese they placed on the table.  This cottage cheese is made at a local dairy and was the best I have ever had.

The Good 'N Plenty Restaurant is also a place to buy fresh baked goods, and gifts like Pennsylvania Dutch cookbooks, Amish history and heritage books, and other souvenirs.

A trip to the Pennsylvania Dutch Amish Country is not complete without the Pennsylvania Dutch Family Style Dining experience.  There are several Family Style Dining Restaurants around the Pennsylvania Dutch Amish Country, and Good 'N Plenty is probably one of the best.  Look for coupons in the Amish Country News or the Good 'N Plenty website.
