Oven Fried Chicken
is a healthier variation of Fried Chicken without all that Deep Fried fat. Although it is impossible to know when Oven Fried Chicken, or Fried Chicken for that matter, came to be, but it is truely an American Cusine, and the South has many recipes for that wonderful golden brown tasty crust. Below is an Oven Fried Chicken Recipe. It is just a bit healthier for you than the Pan Fried version, but if you are watching your fat intake, then this is a little better for you. I hope you enjoy.


Oven Fried Chicken Highlights

INGREDIENTS

•1 1/2 sticks of unsalted Butter (Substitute Margarine if you prefer)

•3 Garlic Cloves, minced

•2 cups Bread Crumbs

•2/3 cups grated Parmigiano-Reggiano

•2 teaspoons salt

•1/8 teaspoon of Black Pepper

•3 1/2 lbs Chicken cut into 10 pieces

DIRECTIONS


1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
2. Combine the Butter (or Margarine) and Garlic and heat over medium high heat until Butter is melted.
3. Pour Butter mixture into a large bowl and allow to cool to room temperature
4. In a separate bowl, mix the Bread crumbs, Parmigiano-Reggiano, salt, and pepper
5. One at a time, dip each Chicken piece into the melted Garlic Butter and then place in the Bread crumb mixture coating all sides of the Chicken
6. Arrange the Chicken in one layer on a large baking sheet
7. Drizzle any remaining Garlic Butter over the Chicken
8. Bake until lightly browned. Make sure the Chicken is cooked through. Takes about 50 - 60 minutes
