The Playwright Tavern is a beautifully decorated Irish Pub located in Times Square on 49th Street in New York City. They have a lot to offer, and the people there are friendly.

I visited the Playwright Tavern on a Wednesday night, which was lucky because Wednesday Nights are Karaoke night at the Playwright. They offer a huge selection to choose from too. I was actually impressed with the Karaoke DJ there. When I couldn't find a song in the book, all I had to do was ask and he knew if he had it and cued it up within minutes each and every time I asked. We had a ball singing and enjoying pints at the Playwright Tavern, and i met a lot of friendly people not only from New York, but folks as far away as California.

The Playwright Tavern also offers UFC, boxing, Rugby, and Soccer events televised with no cover charge. There are plenty of Flat Screen TVs throughout the Bar to watch Sports on TV. The Playwright Tavern is decorated with light wood paneling and pictures of Irish Playwrights and Broadway memorabilia. There is also Live Music every Sunday at the Playwright Tavern. The Playwright Tavern also offers a Menu that includes Appetizers, Soups, Salad, Burgers, Seafood, Pasta, and of course Irish Favorites like Corned Beef and Cabbage, Chicken Pot Pie, Shepherd's Pie, and Dublin Style Fish and Chips. I did not eat there when I visited the Playwright Tavern, so I cannot give an opinion.

I recommend the Playwright Tavern in Times Square especially on Wednesday nights for their superb Karaoke.
