Sorbellos Authentic Sicilian
Restaurant is a small Family Owned, store front Sicilian Restaurant
located in the Wells Plaza Shopping Center on Wells Road in Orange
Park, Florida. Actually, Sorbellos Restaurant is a little easy
to miss. The Restaurant is located on the side of Wells Plaza
on Debarry Ave just behind the Kangaroo Gas Station. Sorbellos
Authentic Sicilian Restaurant serves a variety of Sicilian Dishes
made by a Sicilian Family that came from the old country. The
food is Authentic, and the atmosphere is decidedly Sicilian with red
& white checkered table clothes and curtains. The Restaurant is
divided with the kitchen and a couple tables and a counter to dine
at on one side, and a small dining room on the other. The
owner and cook is obviously Sicilian with a thick accent. They
are friendly and courteous there too.
I stumbled upon Sorbellos
Authentic Sicilian Restaurant by accident while visiting nearby NAS
Jacksonville. If I was just driving down Wells Road, I
probably would have never noticed it due to its out of the way
location in Wells Plaza. I guess I got lucky. In Sorbellos,
they have a sign that asks you to be patient while they prepare your
food and to please relax. This is also reiterated on the menu.
I ordered the Baked Ziti (Nonna Style). The Baked Ziti had
pieces of ham in it and lots of ricotta & mozzarella cheese in it
too.
I did not have to wait long for my food at all. I was curious
about the "Nonna Style" and was told that it meant Grandmother
style. It was pretty good. I prefer not to have the ham,
but the pasta was hot and cooked al dente, and the cheese combo
was excellent. They serve a salad with homemade Italian
dressing which was good and some bread. The bread was
disappointing to me. I expected traditional Italian crusty bread, but
instead I received soft bread that I suspect may have been Pillsbury
or some other store bought pop-in-the-oven type bread. The price of
the food was reasonable too. Sorbellos also serves traditional Sicilian
Style Pizza, Calzones, and other Italian/Sicilian Dishes too
Overall, Sorbellos Authentic
Sicilian Restaurant is a good place to have a meal in a Family Owned
Restaurant that doesn't kill your pocket.
