The Circle Restaurant located on High Street in Portsmouth, Virginia has been around since 1947.
They claim to be 'Hampton Road's only Historic Landmark Restaurant.' It originally started out as a drive
in Restaurant where you would place your order and eat in your car. Today, The Circle
Restaurant is a popular Seafood and Steak Restaurant that also provides occasional Live Entertainment. The food at the Circle is excellent. They offer
several different cuts of steak, Lobster, and Shrimp, Oysters, and Crab Cakes. They also
serve other meals besides Steak & Seafood too. The Blue Plate
Specials have entrees such as Liver & Onions, Hamburger Steaks,
Fried Chicken and more. I usually get the Lobster Surf N Turf when I go there, and I have never had a bad meal. They also have a very good
Salad Bar with an ample selection of items to choose from.
The Circle Restaurant is almost a local Portsmouth secret. If you passed by it, you may not think it to be a decent Restaurant due to
the late 40s and 50s drive in look it has, and it
may be hard to believe that it serves excellent Steaks and Seafood, but they certainly do.
Make no mistake, The Circle is no longer a drive in Restaurant. The locals love The Circle, and if you go there, expect a short wait. Whenever I go, I have
had to wait, but it has never been a long wait. The Circle does have a
small Bar inside, so if you want, you can enjoy a beverage while you wait too.
The service in The Circle is also very
good, and again, every time I have been there, I have not had a problem. The wait staff are
courteous, and they make sure you have everything you need.
The food is prepared and served in a reasonable amount of time, so
all-in-all, The Circle Restaurant handles every aspect of the dining
experience well.
If you like well prepared food, especially Seafood and Steaks, and want to go where the locals go for a fine meal in Portsmouth, VA, then
a visit to The Circle
Restaurant will do nicely.
