Tidewater is the South Eastern part of Virginia that includes
Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Hampton, Suffolk, Portsmouth and surrounding areas.
It is home to the largest Naval Complex in the world and is home to a lot of
Military families, mostly Navy. The Tidewater area has many Bars and
Restaurants and is close to some popular attractions like Busch Gardens in
Williamsburg, Kings Dominion, which is just a bit North of Richmond and about
a hour and a half drive, and many Historically significant areas like
Yorktown, Colonial Williamsburg, and many more sites. The beaches are
usually crowded, and the rules are a bit restrictive, but Virginia Beach is a
popular tourist destination for the Beach Goer.
The area has grown exponentially over the past 30 years and is
now a metropolis. Traffic can be brutal at times, but the area has so
much to offer, it is easy to accept the traffic and crowds.
I used to live in Virginia Beach and left there in 1996, but I
still go to the area frequently, so check back here often, I will add pages as
I revisit. There is so much to do in Tidewater, It will be a long time
before I run out of places to write about.
