Welcome to the District of Columbia, Washington DC, section of Business Travel Fun.
I Travel to Washington, DC on Business every now and then and I have been
doing so for about 17 years. I try to stay in Crystal City if I can help
it, and depending on the nature of my Business, I usually don't even bother
with a rental car. Parking is very expensive, not to mention the traffic
is horrendous. If I have a Business meeting or a convention to attend,
and it is within a few blocks of a Metro Station, then I will stay in Crystal
City and take the Metro. It is very cheap and convenient. The only
downside is that the last trains run about 12:15 AM to 12:30 AM depending on
the Metro Station you are using, so if you are out late, you can find yourself
needing a taxi back which can be expensive.
Crystal City is part
of Arlington, VA, a suburb of Washington, DC. It is a very nice section
of the city with plenty of motels and a few Restaurants and Bars. There is lots to do
in Washington, DC and there is usually a Metro Station nearby.
Click
here for a map of the Washington, DC Metro System. Besides the Metro
System ending so early, the only other downside that I can see is if you want
to go to Georgetown. You can get off in two places which will put you
about 1 mile of walking to and from Georgetown. One Metro Station is Rosslyn
and the other is Foggy Bottom. The Orange and Blue lines go to these
Metro stations. Other than that, the Washington, DC Metro System is a great
transportation system.
On the right side of this page, I have several Travel Reviews of
Restaurants and Bars, many of which are within 5 blocks of a Metro Station. Check back
often, as I will be adding more Travel Reviews as I visit the Washington, DC area in the
future.
